Wladimir Putin will Weltkriegs-Dokumente öffentlich zugänglich machen: „Wir werden jenen das Maul stopfen, die versuchen, Geschichte umzuschreiben.“
Vladimir Putin wants to make World War II documents publicly accessible: "We will shut up those who try to rewrite history."
According to Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, Russia wants to make its archive documents on World War II accessible to the general public. Such an open center and a website should work against attempts to falsify history in the future, Putin said in St. Petersburg on Saturday.
The President commemorated the anniversary of the Leningrad blockade and met with veterans. The German Wehrmacht had besieged Leningrad (St. Petersburg) from 1941 to 1944 during World War II.
"We will shut up those who try to rewrite history (...) and belittle the role of our fathers and grandfathers, our heroes who died to protect their homes and virtually the entire world from the brown plague" , Putin said, according to the state agency Tass.
