“Brainbox” was formed in Amsterdam in 1969 by Kaz Lux (Kazimierz Lux), a singer of Polish descent, and guitarist Jan Akkerman (formerly playing “The Hunters”), who invited his friend, drummer Pierre Van Der Linden.
After the release of their first album 1969 (“Brainbox”),
Akkerman left the band to join another legendary Dutch band, Focus, in 1971.
Pierre Van Der Linden followed him. They were replaced by Rudi de Queljoe, John Schuursma and Frans Smit. This lineup is falling apart already in 1971 due to problems with their manager.
