In 1953, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) made a decision that affected everyone on Earth.
It standardized the tuning of musical instruments to A = 440 Hz.

Previously, A = 432 Hz was the standard.

Why is this important?
Why should a global organization care about the exact pitch of musical instruments?

440 Hz does the exact opposite.
